Dotxxx Domain Sunrise Finishes, Resell Dotxxx Domains

If you resell domains through your custom storefront, you will welcome the news of the success of the sunrise period for dotxxx domains, as reported by the ICM registry, the company that are running the domain extension.

The sunrise period, intended to allow existing companies within the adult industry to register their adult domain, and for non-adult brands wishing to protect their intellectual property to register their name, therefore stopping anyone else registering it, saw such a high uptake that it was extended by a further seventy two hours to ensure companies did not miss out. The registry announced on the 20th of October that the sunrise registrations had at that point been five times more than they had originally predicted, as applicants had been quick to place their orders for their adult and non-adult dotxxx domains.

The Landrush stage will now open on the 8th of November, and at this stage people will secure their ideal domain name, or be entered into an auction should there be multiple applicants for their chosen domain. Once this stage is complete, the registry will then open their doors for General Availability, where names are awarded on a first come first served basis. This will begin on the 6th of December.

"There is always a risk with a new TLD that you may build it and nobody will come. We are thrilled that over 80,000 applications came! In fact, the .XXX Sunrise period results far exceeds those of any other new TLDs, including .mobi, .asia and even that of .co that re-launched last year with a significant marketing campaign.” Said Stuart Lawley, CEO of the ICM registry.

As a domain reseller, you can sell dotxxx names through your custom storefront, at both the Landrush and General Availability stages. The dotxxx TLD is the first of what is predicted to be a whole host of new TLDs to enable people to find what they are looking for with ease. High profile applications will be .london, .madrid and .newyork; domains that will allow companies to offer site specific services in a specific area.
