This week saw the release of the long awaited dot scot domain for general availability. Since the details of the launched were made public in July there
has been a large anticipation for the release of the domain which is designed to offer a namespace for individuals and businesses who wish to identify as
distinctly Scottish.
The TLD follows the recent launch of a number of geo TLDs, names which are linked to a geographical area as opposed to an industry or category, which have
proved very popular. Berlin, London, New York and Cologne all have their own TLD with Wales to be released later this year and plenty more yet to be
delegated.
The .scot TLD was launched on the 23rd September at 2pm and has already seen a large number of Domainbox pre orders successfully fulfilled
however plenty more .scot domain names are still available to register.
