.de Passes 15 Million Registrations!

Today the German Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD), .de, passed 15 million registrations. This cements the .de domain extension's place as the largest ccTLD in the world. Only the two largest gTLDs, .com and .net have more registered domain names. You can resell all of these TLDs and many more from within your Domainbox.com domain reseller account.

This is a great achievement for DENIC, the .de registry. They have been working since 2004 to build a TLD which is accepted both in Germany and throughout Europe. This new milestone highlights the fact that German consumers are still extremely supportive of .de and that the TLD is being recognised throughout Europe and the world. In February there were more than 67,000 .de registrations. As of yet, there is no sign of the TLD stopping its huge growth. Domain resellers will be glad to hear these statistics.

The .de domain celebrated its 25th birthday in November last year. The .de domain name was registered in the IANA database back in 1986. In 1996 DENIC as a cooperative was born. This meant that 37 German Internet service providers came together to facilitate the infrastructure that .de is founded on. They have also added a new, state-of-the-art name server cluster to their already extensive DNS infrastructure. This takes the total number of name server clusters available to 16 worldwide. The number of queries handled by DENIC name servers has increased dramatically in recent years and there are as many as 7 billion queries a day to the DNS.

One in every 6 German citizens has a .de domain and nearly 80% of .de domains are registered by private individuals. This shows the trust and recognition that a .de domain name has in Germany. Your clients can penetrate the lucrative German market using the TLD and encourage customers throughout Europe to trust their site.

At Domainbox.com we offer .de domains from as little as $6.30 a year. This represents extremely good value for both you and your clients. With .de growing all the time and being recognised not only in Germany, but throughout the world, the TLD is an excellent addition to any client's portfolio.
